It’s that time of the year — Robert E. Howard Days return to Cross Plains, Texas, June 8 and 9. The annual festival celebrates the life and work of the Conan writer and gathers his fans from around the world in the town where he created all of his work.
There will be tours of the Howard House Museum and the town of Cross Plains, a banquet, a barbecue, a silent auction, panels, a swap meet and the Barbarian Festival.
This year marks the 80th anniversary of Conan’s debut in Weird Tales (in the short story “The Phoenix on the Sword,” published December 1932), and there’s going to be a birthday celebration — with cake!
Howard died in Cross Plains on June 11, 1936 at age 30.
